Advent Family Readings

Years ago as I searched for relevant advent activities for our young kids, I found Focus on the Family creates annual advent family calendars. You can access their current advent devotionals on their website.  We have enjoyed many of these over the years as we prepare our hearts for the Christmas season.  Most are not still accessible on the internet, but I have included one below (for purchase) that is still available from past years. It also might have been my favorite…

Another solid option is this advent calendar put out by Watermark Community Church using Seeds Family Worship. If you aren’t familiar with Seeds Family Worship, check it out (https://www.seedsfamilyworship.com/). This is the advent activity that coordinates with their CDs. Honestly, you don’t have to have the CDs to benefit from their excellent advent preparation.

Also utilizing Seeds Family Worship…and the Jesse Tree idea (LOVE this)…

These three go together…start here…

Then you can click within that site on these…

We have also incorporated different books over the years as well (because I don’t really like to do the same thing over and over again).  So, here is a list of some our favorites…

Unwrapping the Greatest Gift by Ann Voskamp (We first checked this out from the library, but ended up purchasing it because it was that good!) Another good book by her is The Greatest Gift.

The Family Book of Advent by Carol Garborg was also a good one we used early on with our kids.

Unwrapping the Names of Jesus by Asheritah Ciuciu was also full of fresh reminders about Jesus.

-And one year we found a study on The Fruit of the Spirit that we did…using the idea of producing fruit as gifts to others.
